There's nothing better on a hot summer day than quenching your thirst with some iced cold lemonade! Once I started making my own freshly squeezed lemonade, I've never been satisfied with store-bought brands. I've been making this same recipe for a couple years now and it goes so quickly I find myself making it weekly sometimes during the summer.
Ingredients
- 1 1/2 cups sugar
- 1 1/2 cups lemon juice from freshly squeezed lemons
- 8-9 cups water (more or less for a sweet or tart taste)
Directions:
- In a small saucepan, combine sugar and 1 cup water. Bring to boil and stir to dissolve sugar. Allow to cool to room temperature.
- Remove seeds from lemon juice, but leave pulp. In a pitcher, stir
together sugar syrup, lemon juice and remaining 7 cups water. *A tip to get the most juice out of your lemons is to put them in the microwave for 30 seconds. This helps to release the lemon juice. Also, before cutting them in half, roll them on the counter with the palm of your hand.
That's it! Chill it in the fridge, pour over ice, and enjoy . :)
Don't toss those used lemons! I'll be posting soon about how to use the peels to make
